I haven't painted on TerraSkin for awhile so I decided to do this week's painting on that surface. I was able to paint the background over the entire paper and then lift out the lighter areas and paint the darker areas over the blue. The ability to lift the color back to the pristine, white paper is definitely a plus with this surface.
I'm really amazed that it is possible to lift watercolor from the surface! I don't know exactly what terra skin is. I feel very ignorant when it comes to watercolor topics! But I do know that your painting is gorgeous! The colors and shapes and movement of the composition are all so perfectly portrayed! This would be beautiful on the wall to bring a fresh ocean breeze into the room!
ReplyDeleteTerraSkin is very much like Yupo (if you know what that is) in that the paint sits on the surface because it is a non-absorbent material. I like TerraSkin better because it has a bit of tooth where Yupo is very slick. Also, though you can lift the paint back to the white of the paper with both, TerraSkin takes a little more work and because of that, it's easier to add more layers without disrupting your previous work. Every time I work on this surface, I fall in love with it.

DeleteI agree with Katherine, makes you think beach and cool breezes. You have done some beautiful paintings on this surface. Haven't decided yet on 30 day challenge, sorry meant to send you email.
ReplyDeleteThat 30 day challenge is intense. I learned in January that is isn't for me although I enjoy following everyone else's progress. The hardest part was coming up with a subject to paint each day. Maybe I'll work on getting 30 subjects decided on and do the January challenge...but I'm not going to hold my breath on that one. : )
